Roadside Garden

I watch my roadside garden grow

A garden I don't plant or hoe.

It's planted by a friendly God

Who likes to see the grasses nod.

Who smiles to see the warm embrace

Of bees that land on Queen Ann's Lace

While Chicory's blue reflects the skies

Susan raises dark brown eyes.

Cattails tiptoe where it's wet.

Pretty in pink, is Bouncing Bet.

Daisies, Asters Cardinal Flower,

Each one has its special hour.

It’s hardy, carefree, gypsy ways

Completely charm my summer days.
